In one sentence

Hono Subtitles collects no data about you. Recognition and translation run entirely on your device; audio, video, and subtitle text never leave it. We operate no servers.

What the app processes

To use captions you must start Screen Sharing yourself, from Apple's own system sheet. Once you do:

iOS hands audio playing in other apps to Hono Subtitles' broadcast extension;
that audio is converted to text on your device by Apple's on-device speech framework (Speech / SpeechTranscriber);
the text passes to the main app through a shared container inside the device (an App Group);
the main app translates it on your device using Apple's Translation framework;
the result is drawn as a subtitle in the system Picture in Picture window.

Throughout:

Audio is never recorded, stored, or uploaded. It is converted to text in memory and discarded.
Your screen is never read. Although iOS calls the capability "Screen Sharing", this app requests and uses only the audio track.
Subtitle text is never uploaded. It exists only in device memory and the device-internal shared container, and is overwritten by the next line.

Data we collect

None. This app:

has no accounts and requires no registration or sign-in;
contains no analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, or advertising SDKs;
contains no third-party SDKs of any kind;
has no servers of ours, and makes no network requests of its own.

Data stored on your device

The following is kept only in the app's container on this device and is deleted when you delete the app:

your chosen source and subtitle languages;
your remaining free captioning sessions and when the last one was granted;
whether you have seen the first-run introduction.

None of it leaves the device, and we cannot access it.

When the app uses the network

Only in two situations, and in both the request is made by iOS rather than by this app:

The first time you use a given language, iOS downloads the matching speech model and translation language pack. This is handled by Apple's system frameworks; afterwards the app works offline.
When you buy or restore a purchase, Apple's StoreKit communicates with the App Store.

Purchases

Subscriptions and the one-time unlock are handled entirely by Apple's App Store. We never see and cannot access your payment method, card number, or Apple Account details. Apple tells the app one thing only: whether the Apple Account on this device holds a valid purchase. That processing is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Speech recognition permission

When iOS asks for speech recognition permission it shows standard wording written by Apple. This app uses Apple's on-device speech recognition; the app does not send audio to any server.

Children

This app is not directed at children and collects no age information or personal information.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of this page. Because the app collects no data and we hold no contact details for you, we cannot notify you individually.

我们收集的数据

没有。 本 App：

没有账号，也不需要注册或登录；
不包含任何分析、统计、崩溃上报或广告 SDK；
不包含任何第三方 SDK；
没有任何自有服务器，不发起任何自有网络请求。

存在设备上的数据

以下内容只保存在本设备的 App 容器内，删除 App 即一并删除：

你选择的源语言和字幕语言；
剩余的免费字幕次数和上次发放时间；
是否已看过首次使用引导。

这些数据不会离开设备，我们也无法访问。

联网的情况

本 App 只在两种情况下需要联网，且两次都是由 iOS 系统而非本 App 发起：

首次使用某种语言时，iOS 会下载对应的语音识别模型和翻译语言包。下载由 Apple 的系统框架完成，下载后即可离线使用。
购买或恢复购买时，由 Apple 的 StoreKit 与 App Store 通信。

购买

订阅和一次性解锁全部通过 Apple 的 App Store 完成。我们不接触也无法看到你的支付方式、银行卡号或 Apple 账户信息。Apple 只告诉本 App 一个结果：这台设备上的这个 Apple 账户是否拥有有效的购买。相关处理适用 Apple 的隐私政策。

语音识别权限

iOS 在请求语音识别权限时会显示一段 Apple 提供的标准说明。本 App 使用的是 iOS 的本机语音识别，音频不会被本 App 发送到任何服务器。

儿童

本 App 不面向儿童设计，也不收集任何年龄信息或个人信息。

政策变更

如果本政策有实质性变化，我们会更新本页顶部的日期。由于本 App 不收集数据，也没有你的联系方式，无法单独通知。
